T-Mobile roaming: 5 GB abroad on Experience More, 15 GB on Beyond

T-Mobile’s roaming depends on which Experience plan you’re on: Experience More includes 5 GB of high-speed data in 215+ countries, and Experience Beyond includes 15 GB. Canada and Mexico carry a separate, larger allowance on both. I’m not a T-Mobile customer; this is their plan page read on September 22, 2026.

How much data does each T-Mobile plan include abroad?

The difference between the two plans matters more than it looks. The travel allowances T-Mobile advertises most loudly (15 GB abroad, 30 GB in Canada and Mexico) belong to Beyond, which is the dearer plan. Experience More, the one marked most popular, travels with a third of the data.

Is 5 GB enough for a trip?

For a long weekend, yes. Over two weeks, 5 GB is about a third of a gigabyte a day, which covers maps and messaging but not much else. The roaming comparison flags an allowance as thin once it drops under half a gigabyte a day for the trip length you pick, and Experience More crosses that line on anything longer than ten days.

Beyond’s 15 GB holds up for a two-week trip. Ten days abroad against a few carriers that include roaming and two that charge for it:

The T-Mobile row is Experience More. On Beyond it would read 15 GB. Total Wireless’s MAX 5G plans and Spectrum’s Unlimited Plus also include 10 GB, and the roaming comparison has every plan. Several carriers that cost far less at home include as much or more.

What does the roaming cost you at home?

T-Mobile’s domestic pricing is among the highest on this site. From the leaving page: one line of Experience More is $90 a month before AutoPay, plus a $4.49 per-line fee and tax; the $140 on the plan card is a three-line total. The cheaper Essentials plans, from $55, don’t include data abroad at all: T-Mobile’s roaming page gives them free texting in 215+ countries and sells data as International Passes.

Mint runs on the same network at $30 a month regular, and its 10-day pass is $20 with 10 GB. Two international trips a year on Mint costs $40 in passes, and the per-line difference between T-Mobile and Mint over a year is far more than that. So unless you travel often and need Beyond’s allowance, the roaming isn’t a reason to stay; it narrows the gap rather than closing it.

The better argument for staying isn’t roaming at all. T-Mobile advertises a 5-Year Price Guarantee on these plans, and a guarantee against increases is worth more than a gigabyte allowance to anyone who plans to stay put. Where does it stop being enough?

• Long trips. Even Beyond’s 15 GB over a month is half a gigabyte a day. Fine for maps and messaging, thin if you tether.
• You still have no local number. Same as every carrier roaming product. Countries that want a local number for deliveries, banking or bookings aren’t solved by roaming at any price.
• After the allowance, it’s slow. T-Mobile’s roaming page says data continues “at up to 256 Kbps” once the high-speed amount is used, enough for messages and not much else.

If you’re leaving but travel a lot

Staying on T-Mobile’s network:
